The journey begins at Darwin International Airport (YPDN), where you will take off heading east towards Cairns International Airport (YBCS). The route crosses some of Australias most remote and fascinating landscapes, offering unique challenges such as navigating long distances without visual terrestrial references. Pilots are encouraged to plan their routes carefully, taking into account prevailing winds, ideal cruising altitudes and alternates if necessary.
