This event was created to celebrate one of the most glorious planes become legend in Italian and world aviation, the Douglas DC3.
The DC3 in the banner is the one placed in Turin Caselle airport: it has been repainted so as to reproduce the original I-LEON, USAAF serial number 41-7817, which entered service in LAI (Linee Aeree Italiane) fleet in 1947 and lasted until the end, passed in Alitalia fleet, and finally was discharged in 1960, in charge of the Italian Air Force.
