GEOGRAFY
Bariloche, which official name is San Carlos de Bariloche, it's a city in Argentina, located in the Province of Río Negro, next to the Andes, in the border with Chile. It's surrounded by lakes (Nahuel Huapi, Gutiérrez, Mascardi) and mountains, like the "Cerro Tronador" at 3354M of altitude, and the "Cerros Catedral e López". the airport is located Thirteen Kilometers east of the city.

Weather
The weather is mostly dry with winds from the southeast which motivates the operation on the runway 29. The Argentine Air Force "FAA" website (www.smn.gov.ar) has weather detailed information from the region providing satellite image and other weather messages. additional information can be obtained in: http://www.bariloche.org/clima.
One of the important characteristics when evaluating the weather in Bariloche and its alternatives is the frontal system dislocation. this evaluation will be done through SIG and WX charts and comparing weather reports from Puerto Montt (SCTE) and Bariloche. What's happening in Puerto Montt (SCTE) likely will happen in Bariloche in a short time space and then in Neuquen.
Because the high air humidity with sudden temperatures drops sometimes there is some icing, freezing Fog and low ceiling in the approach. These phenomena happen with the presence of frontal systems and after the passage of it. Other phenomena to be taken into account is the wind intensity next to the FL100 which can reach 110KT, which is normally found intercepting Bariloche VOR (BAR).
Mountainous terrain around the airport, high rich of CFIT. Moderate turbulence can happen because of the wind and terrain around the airport. Attention for trajectories and maximum speeds allowed in case of a missed approach.

During the winter operation, the snow cover the vertical and horizontal signs, making them more difficult for visualizing. These conditions, the attention must be increased. Because the strong crosswinds associated with the snow, the taxiways could be slippery.
